What is it?
The Student Club began six seasons ago when Artistic Director, Susan Ferley, wanted to welcome high school students into The Grand and offer them a chance to experience live professional theatre. Student Club members attend a Thursday evening performance for each of the six MainStage productions. As a group, they meet Artistic Director, Susan Ferley, at 6:30 p.m. they arrive at the Stage Door (off of Dufferin Avenue between Richmond and Talbot Street). At 6:45 p.m. students attend a pre-show chat on an aspect of the production they are about to see, such as wardrobe, lighting and direction. At 7:30 p.m. students are brought to see the MainStage performance. After the show they are welcome to attend a post-show chat with some of the actors from the show. These informal question and answer sessions last for approximately 30 minutes after the performance.

Who can participate?

High school students in Grade 9 through 12 in London and surrounding area.

What are the benefits of attending live theatre?
• live theatre provides a way for young people to learn about the community they live in through the stories they experience on stage
• theatre helps youth increase their powers of concentration and helps with history, English and social science education and understanding
• students interested in music can appreciate how music complements live theatre
• studies show that arts have a positive affect on youth’s ability to study mathematics and science
• young people learn the practical work of theatre, from production to set design to costume design
• they have FUN!

Are there any restrictions?
Yes. The subscription is non-refundable and non-transferable, which means if the student cannot make the Student Club night, the ticket cannot be used by anyone else or exchanged for another evening.
