Grand Theatre Announces New Performance Dates for 2021/22 Season

Last Updated: January 17, 2022

Effective January 5, 2022, new provincial mandates require all Ontario theatres to close until January 26 in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and the omicron variant. As a result, the 2021/22 season has been re-structured with the following changes:

  • Room has been rescheduled to run March 8 – March 19, 2022. Opening Night will be Friday, March 11.
  • GROW has been rescheduled to run April 19 – April 30, 2022. Opening Night will be Friday, April 22.
  • Rubaboo and Controlled Damage have been suspended for this season but will be part of the Grand’s 2022/2023 season.
  • Jeans ‘n Classics performances have been rescheduled to the following dates:
    • U2 - Rattle and Hum: Saturday, March 26, 2022
    • She's Got It - Volume 1: Thursday, May 12, 2022
    • The Music of Pink Floyd: Thursday, June 16, 2022

Ticket-holders may contact our Box Office to discuss your orders, reschedule your seats, or transfer the value of your tickets to account credits at 519-672-8800.

When performances resume, please know that we are actively following current provincial COVID-19 safety measures, including: regularly screening and requiring proof of full vaccination from all who enter the building, mandating masks within the premises, providing hand sanitization stations on all floors, and maintaining stringent cleaning procedures.

To further enhance the safety of our patrons, the Grand is pleased to offer flexible seating options at all performances – until further notice. Flexible seating provides patrons the option to change seats when arriving at the Theatre to help provide additional social distancing options. Grand ushers will be equipped with up-to-date seating charts at all performances and are happy to escort patrons to new, unoccupied seats.

The Grand believes that the arts play a crucial role in difficult and uncertain times. While the show must go on, we continue to keep the health and safety of our audiences, artists, staff, and volunteers paramount in our daily operations and in all we do.

As we monitor the current COVID-19 situation and follow the direction of public health officials, please continue to monitor your email, our website, and social media channels for news and upcoming events at the Grand Theatre.

In conjunction with the Provincial mandate for theatres and many other public gathering places, all Grand Theatre patrons, staff, and artists will need to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, with the final dose having been received at least 14 days prior to entry.

    Children Under 12

Children under 12, who are accompanied by an adult who meets the above vaccination requirements, will be allowed entry in accordance with the prevailing medical guidance at the time of the performance.

    Medical Exemptions

Patrons with valid medical restrictions must supply a note from a health care provider. They must also take a COVID-19 test from a healthcare provider within 48 hours prior to the event and provide proof of negative result prior to entering the venue.

    Methods of Proof

Current methods of acceptable “proof” are:

A physical or electronic copy of an Ontario Vaccination Receipt indicating a completed series of a COVID-19 vaccine, OR your enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code.

ID that shows the individual’s name and date of birth, matching the vaccination receipt, will also be required.

Need your Ontario COVID-19 Vaccine Receipt?

Please visit the Provincial Booking Portal in order to download your Vaccine Receipts.

All visitors, patrons, and staff will be required to wear a mask that fully covers the nose, mouth, and chin as per Step 3 protocols from the Ontario Government, except for brief times when eating or drinking.

    Contactless Ticketing

The Grand Theatre is putting greater efforts in place to support contactless ticketing. Available options include presenting your e-tickets on your mobile device, or using Print-At-Home tickets if you have access to a printer. The Box Office will remain open during regular hours if you need assistance printing your tickets.

Due to additional documents that will need to be checked upon arrival to the theatre, patrons may experience delays and/or lineups at ticket scanning. It is recommended that patrons have all necessary documentation available at the point of entry.

    Updates to Protocols

We anticipate being required to maintain many of these protocols throughout the remainder of 2021 and/or until the Provincial Government allows for a relaxation of these requirements. As government guidance is rapidly evolving, our protocols will likewise be amended and updated as necessary.

For questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccination requirements, please email boxoffice [at] grandtheatre [dot] com or call 519-672-8800.
