About the Grand Theatre

A leading cultural hub, the Grand is proudly located in the heart of downtown London, Ontario. We are a place for all to gather, discuss, challenge, debate, celebrate, and be inspired and entertained by exceptional theatre experiences.  A not-for-profit regional theatre, the Grand produces and presents professional theatre on two stages: the Spriet Stage (~800 seats) and the Auburn Stage (~150 seats).

A typical season at the Grand runs from September to May including an annual fall High School Project production, which has a 23-year history as an integral part of our programming.

The Grand is World Curious and London Proud.  We bring the world to London with diverse, relevant, and original stories from around the globe, and through collaborations with exceptional national and international performing arts organizations.

And we bring London to the world stage with a commitment to developing, producing, and premiering new and original stories through COMPASS, our new play development program. In partnership with artists and playwrights from around the world and around the corner, we present relevant, provocative and entertaining stories that remind us of our collective humanity.

On December 2, 1919, Ontario theatre magnate Ambrose Small sold all of his theatre holdings, including London’s Grand Theatre, for a record sum. That very day, he disappeared. In his wake, Ambrose left behind his enormous fortune, a jealous wife, a disgruntled employee, gambling buddies, a mistress, and a ghostly mystery waiting to be solved. In the century that has since passed, the body of Ambrose Small has yet to be recovered – at least in the flesh. Yet, countless tales have been reported of a ghostly figure spotted in the darkest corners of Ambrose’s favourite theatre, the Grand.

In this world premiere imagining, every Halloween, the ghosts who haunt the Grand return to relive what actually happened on that fateful day, a century ago. Through a ghostly spectacle, audiences will be left to decide: what really happened to Ambrose Small?

There is a stage management team of three on this show, SM, ASM, and Apprentice. This is a Category-A CTA contract.

The Candidate

The candidate will be an Equity member with at least 2 years of professional Stage Management experience.  The candidate will also have experience and interest in working on new plays.
