Position Details:

The Grand Theatre is seeking applicants for the position of Security Guard to work primarily evenings and weekends. There is both seasonal full-time and part-time work available, and is paid on an hourly basis. This position reports to the Building Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Friendly, personable, and inclusive
  • Trustworthy, dedicated, and high integrity
  • Willing to learn
  • Able to work 8 - 12 hours shifts
  • Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Flexible to work afternoon/evening/weekend shifts as well as some Holidays
  • Must be able to read/write/speak English fluently
  • Must be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Valid First Aid/CPR with AED
  • Anti-oppression training, or willingness to obtain
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Assets, but not required:

  • Familiarity with performing arts industry
  • Smart Serve
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Experience in the Security Industry
  • Experience as a Security Guard
  • Personal Defense Training

Job Duties:

  • Welcoming staff and guests and signing them in/out
  • Performing COVID screening for staff/guests
  • Securing assigned posts
  • Patrolling on foot
  • Preparing reports
  • Serving as alternate building fire marshal
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of patrons and property
  • Snow removal, de-icing exterior walkways and exits
  • Adjusting HVAC per staff requests in absence of Building Manager
  • Emergency repairs/cleaning in absence of Building Manager and Housekeeping staff
  • Monitoring/Operating CCTV system
  • Monitoring Access Control system


  • $17.00 per hour
