Canada Life: PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN Program
The Grand Theatre is pleased to announce Canada Life Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) pricing for the first Sunday matinee of each Spriet Series production.
For each performance, we reserve a limited number of seats for PWYC.
For productions on the Spriet Stage, we reserve a minimum of 150 tickets:
100 seats are available for sale at 12:01am the day of the performance for online sales.
50 seats are available for sale one hour before the performance in person at the Grand Theatre.
two ways to buy
1) Online – no waiting in line! You can print your tickets at home or display them on your smartphone. These tickets are available online starting at 12:01am, the day of the performance.
2) In-Person – at the theatre, beginning one hour prior to the start of the PWYC performance. Payment may be made by cash, credit, or debit (see FAQs for more information).

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a Pay-What-You-Can admission?
That’s up to you! We encourage you to pay as you are able. There is no minimum—or maximum—amount.
Please note that when purchasing online, we offer prices in $5 increments, beginning at $5. Tickets purchased online include HST and a Capital Improvement Fee (CIF) per ticket.
What seat will I receive?
You will receive the best seat available at the time of booking. Book online for the best availability and to avoid waiting in line! For in-person sales, we recommend arriving early to get the best seat possible.
Am I guaranteed a seat?
Our PWYC tickets are based on limited availability; therefore, we cannot guarantee availability or specific seats. We do guarantee a minimum number of seats are reserved per PWYC performances.

How do the online sales work?
At 12:01am on the day of the performance, a limited number of seats will be released for sale online.
To purchase the best seat available at that time, visit this webpage, select the performance, and choose tickets at any of the PWYC prices. Online ticket purchases are subject to the following conditions:
- Tickets may be purchased in increments of $5, beginning at $5 through $60 per ticket.
- You will need to create a patron account in our system, which requires a name, address, and phone number. This information is kept private, and is required due to credit card processing policies.
- All ticket prices include a Capital Improvement Fee, and HST. The price you choose from the menu is the total price (no additional charges).
- All sales are final. There are no exchanges or refunds on these deeply discounted tickets.
What happens if online sales sell out?
Even if online PWYC sales sell out, a reserved block of seats for the “at-door” sales will remain held until one hour prior to the performance. At that time, we begin selling tickets to patrons in the order they arrive at the door.
I need an accessible or limited mobility section seat
Subject to availability, we are happy to book your PWYC ticket in our Accessible Seating section.
Please note that these sections of seating are extremely popular and may not necessarily be available during the PWYC online or at-door sales periods. We encourage you to contact the box office in advance if you require an accessible or limited mobility seat, which are reserved for patrons who specifically request them and are available by calling the Grand Theatre Box Office at 519.672.8800, or in person at the door.
How can I purchase tickets in person, at the door?
One hour before our Sunday matinee PWYC performances, we accept cash at the door for in-person purchases. Seats are assigned on a best-available basis, first-come, first-served. Please pay as you are able. As an outdoor wait may be necessary before the Box Office opens, please dress appropriately for the weather.
Can I pay with Debit or Credit at the door?
Yes – but please arrive early to allow some time for processing.
All sales are final. There are no exchanges or refunds on these deeply discounted tickets.
I don’t like my seat – can I change it?
Unfortunately, due to the deeply discounted ticket price, we do not allow seat exchanges on PWYC tickets, whether purchased online or at the door.
