COVID Protocols

Please note that the Grand Theatre is officially open at 100% capacity. This capacity is planned to be in effect during the run of Home for the Holidays and throughout the rest of the season.

As we monitor the current COVID-19 situation and follow the direction of public health officials, please keep an eye on your email, our website, and social media channels for news and upcoming events at the Grand Theatre.


In conjunction with the Provincial mandate for theatres and many other public gathering places, all Grand Theatre patrons, staff, and artists will need to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, with the final dose having been received at least 14 days prior to entry.

Children Under 12

Children under 12, who are accompanied by an adult who meets the above vaccination requirements, will be allowed entry in accordance with the prevailing medical guidance at the time of the performance.

Medical Exemptions

Patrons with valid medical restrictions must supply a note from a health care provider. They must also take a COVID-19 test from a healthcare provider within 48 hours prior to the event and provide proof of negative result prior to entering the venue.

Methods of Proof

Current methods of acceptable “proof” are:

A physical or electronic copy of an Ontario Vaccination Receipt indicating a completed series of a COVID-19 vaccine, OR your enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code.

ID that shows the individual’s name and date of birth, matching the vaccination receipt, will also be required.

Please visit the Provincial Booking Portal in order to download your Vaccine Receipts. 



All visitors, patrons, and staff will be required to wear a mask that fully covers the nose, mouth, and chin as per Step 3 protocols from the Ontario Government, except for brief times when eating or drinking.

Contactless Ticketing

The Grand Theatre is putting greater efforts in place to support contactless ticketing. Available options include presenting your e-tickets on your mobile device, or using Print-At-Home tickets if you have access to a printer. The Box Office will remain open during regular hours if you need assistance printing your tickets.


Due to additional documents that will need to be checked upon arrival to the theatre, patrons may experience delays and/or lineups at ticket scanning. It is recommended that patrons have all necessary documentation available at the point of entry.

Updates to Protocols

We anticipate being required to maintain many of these protocols throughout the remainder of 2021 and/or until the Provincial Government allows for a relaxation of these requirements. As government guidance is rapidly evolving, our protocols will likewise be amended and updated as necessary.
