Our Spaces

The Grand Theatre, made up of the Spriet Stage, Auburn Stage and lobby, the Drewlo Lounge and surrounding lobby areas is a perfect backdrop for performances, special events and corporate functions, During our "dark" days - those times when the Spriet Stage and/or Auburn Stage are not being used for Grand Theatre programs - both venues are available for rental activities.

SPRIET STAGE

Rental rates – July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022

Rates do not include required staffing. Please refer to labour rates section.

Capacity: 839 seats – Proscenium theatre

Commercial

$2500 per day plus 9% of sales net of HST
Additional $750 per show for multiple show days plus 9% of sales net of HST
$3000 per day for non-ticketed events.

Non-Profit

$1750 per day plus 9% of sales net of HST
Additional $750 per show for multiple show days plus 9% of sales net of HST
$2200 per day for non-ticketed events.

Labour Rates and Other Charges
  • IATSE Stage Crew Labour as per IATSE Collective Agreement. Stage Crew estimate is provided after receipt of event technical requirements and schedule.
  • Front of House Manager, Box Office Staff and Stage Door Security required, and are billed at prevailing hourly rates.
  • Housekeeping at 6 hours per event at prevailing hourly rate. Credit card charges at approximately 2.5%
  • Capital Improvement Fund at $3.00 plus HST per ticket charged to the ticket buyer.
  • Proof of liability insurance in an amount of 2 million per occurrence with no limit.
  • 20% of Merchandise Sales. One volunteer is provided to assist with selling.
Statutory Holidays

Included staffing is at regular hourly rates only. Any additional costs for hours worked on Statutory  Holidays or weekly overtime will be billed to rental client at prevailing rates.

Volunteer Front of House ushers provided at no cost

Auburn STAGE

Rental rates – July 1, 2021 to May 2022

Capacity: 144 seats – Tiered theatre-style seating

Capital Improvement Fund

A $1.00 plus HST CIF per ticket surcharge will be added to the final ticket price of all Auburn Stage ticket sales. This surcharge is charged to the ticket buyer at the point of sale. Rental clients may choose to advertise their prices as a gross figure including CIF or a net price plus a $1.00 plus HST surcharge per ticket purchased.

Non-Profit Rates

$350.00 per day plus 7.5% of sales net of HST or
$1500 per week plus 7.5% of sales net of HST - up to 7 consecutive days, Sunday to Saturday including dark days if applicable
Additional $200 per show plus 7.5% of sales net of HST for multiple show days
$500.00 per day/per show for non-ticketed meetings and student matinees that are privately sold

Commercial Rates

$650.00 per day plus 9% of sales net of HST or
$2,500 per week plus 9% of sales net of HST - up to 7 consecutive days, Sunday to Saturday including dark days if applicable
Additional $200 per show for multiple show days
$650.00 per day for non-ticketed events for a maximum of 8 hours

Labour Rates and Other Charges
  • 1 show call for the Front of House Manager is included in rental. Any additional hours required billed at $35.69/hr.
  • Box Office will be open 2 hours prior to show time for ticket sales. Additional hours for double show days will be billed at $23.45/hr
  • Auburn House Technician billed at $27.35/hr. Minimum calls and overtime rates as applicable. Additional technicians as required billed at $23.45/hr. Minimum calls and overtime rates as applicable.
  • 3rd Party Liability Insurance Premium of $25.00 per rental contract. Credit/Debit card charges estimated at 2.5%.
  • Stage Door Security from 8am to 6pm on Mondays, 8am to 11 pm Tuesday to Saturday and 8am to 6pm on Sunday is included. Additional hours billed at $22.15/hr

From May 2022 to September 30, 2022 no labour expenses for any events are included in rental rates and will be billed at prevailing rates including but not Iimited to, Front of House Manager, Box Office staffing, Housekeeping and Stage Door Security. Technical staff is not included in rental rates at any time and are billed at prevailing rates.

$1.00 per ticket printed plus $1.00 CIF plus HST for off-site Lessee sales

Volunteer Ushers

Up to 3 Grand Theatre volunteer ushers to assist with audience seating and emergency procedures.

Housekeeping

Standard cleaning of lobby, audience washrooms and dressing rooms is included. Any unusual or heavy duty cleaning required will be billed at prevailing rates.

Licensed Bar Service

Beverage service will be available preshow and intermission. Which bar will open is at the discretion of the House Manager based on building and staff activity. Additional hours will be billed at prevailing hourly rate.

Statutory Holidays

Staffing is listed at regular hourly rates only. Any additional costs for hours worked on Statutory Holidays will be billed to rental client at prevailing rates.

LOAD IN/LOAD OUT PROCEDURES
  • Load in times will not commence before 1pm on any given day without written authorization from Grand Theatre to ensure that sufficient load out time, theatre restore time and required break time for staff is provided between load-out of previous production and load in of new rental event
  • All load in calls requiring lighting hang and/or focus must include a minimum of the Auburn Stage House Technician plus 1 additional Auburn Stage crew member. Additional crew will be released once the House Technician is satisfied that no further additional staffing is needed.
  • Load out times will not exceed 1am. If load out and restore is not complete, crew call must continue the following day no earlier than 10am. Should it be deemed necessary to increase Auburn Stage technical crew to ensure completion of work, crew will be added to the call and the cost will be the responsibility of the rental client.

Drewlo LOUNGE

Capacity: Up to 119 persons for a stand-up reception Up to 80 persons for sit-down dinner.
Cost: $600 plus required staffing including but not limited to Front of House Manager, bartenders, security and other staff deemed necessary.

 

Auburn LObby

Capacity: Up to 70 persons for a stand-up reception.
Cost: $300 plus required staffing including but not limited to Front of House Manager, bartenders, security, and any other staffing deemed necessary.
